Former Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olabode George, has expressed concern over the scarcity of Naira which he described as the “logic of silence” of the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
At a press conference in Lagos on Thursday, George also slammed the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu and the Director General of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, Aminu Tambuwal, over their alleged silence on the naira and fuel scarcity in the country.
“In all honesty, I cannot decipher the logic of the calm on the edge of the cliff into which Nigeria is immersed.
“Our party, the PDP and others such as the Labor Party, the SDP, the NNPP, seem to be in tune with the current shenanigans. I wonder, what hatred, what malice, what insanity will drive anyone of sound mind to plunge into the current state of hopelessness, destruction and dire suffering of Nigerian citizens,” he said.
Goerge added: “Because of this abnormality, which is a deviation from the regulations or what is considered normal, there seems to be a grave silence on the PDP leader.
“He invents rationality. It dulls the senses of Nigerians every day with the daily agony of persistent fuel scarcity, dumped by the NNPC and the agony of non-availability of cash, caused by the Central Bank of Nigeria through the rebranding of its Naira.
“Where is the presidential candidate of our party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar? Where is Iyorchia Ayu, the national president. How come the voice of the DG, PDP Campaign Council is drowned in eternal silence, with the presidential election just days away?
“Why have they allowed their voices to be drowned in conspiratorial silence? Where are the opposition political parties? What does the silence of the cemetery portend to Nigerians? It seems to mean that the right to the good of Nigerians has been consigned to the dustbin by the political class.
