With the conclusion of by-elections to the National Assembly across the country on Saturday, the 10th Senate is fully formed.
All 109 senatorial districts now have representatives in the upper house of the National Assembly.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) held elections on February 25 in the seven constituencies declared undecided.
With the election over, the APC has emerged as the majority party in the Senate with 59 elected members.
After the elections on February 25, the party elected 55 senators, but gained four more seats in additional votes. He won in Plateau Central, Yobe South, Sokoto North and Sokoto East senatorial districts.
It is the next largest party to the Red Chamber People’s Democratic Party (PDP) which currently has 36 elected senators.
Before last Saturday’s poll, the main opposition party had elected 33 senators. At the end of that exercise, PDP added three more seats by winning in Sokoto South, Zamfara Central and Kebbi North Senatorial constituencies.
However, the other five small parties still retain the number of seats they won in February, as they did not win any seats in the by-elections.

While the Labor Party (LP) has eight senatorial seats, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and New Peoples Party of Nigeria (NNPP) have two seats each. The Progressive Youth Party and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) have one seat each.
10. With the finalization of the Senate membership, the six opposition parties have elected a total of 50 senators against the APC’s 59.
Therefore, it is expected that on June 13, as happened in the eight Senate, they will play a major role in the fight for leadership positions in the upper legislative chamber on June 13.
In the selection of the senate president and the eight senate deputy senate presidents, although the APC was in the majority, the PDP played a major role in the selection of the presidents.
The result was the PDP senator, Ike Ekweremadu selected while the deputy senate president, Bukola Saraki of the APC emerged as the senate president.
