On Wednesday, multi-talented media personality Layole Oyatogun kicked off her return to the world of broadcasting by unveiling her personal fashion reality series.
Layole, who started her career hosting MITV’s entertainment show ‘Star Dust’ alongside her younger sister Mofe, has been off the airwaves for over nine years.
When he moved to Silverbird, he produced the Cadbury breakfast TV show, MBGN Dairy, Page 3 and numerous documentaries while working with Silverbird.
In the media presentation Eastern Hotel LagosLayole presented the Fashion reality series which she tagged ‘Layole’s Lounge’.
He described the show as highlighting the behind-the-scenes fashion of African celebrities.
According to Layole, the show would give the gist behind the red carpet fashion and glamor of top African entertainment celebrities.
The new show centers around A-listers and their hottest moments and Ingram.
“Layole’s Lounge is a journey into the glamor and glitz of celebrity fashion. It’s a look at what goes on behind the scenes of a red carpet; The anxiety, fun, frustration, happiness and stress that goes into creating the perfect red carpet look.”

The show, which will air on DSTV Africa Magic channel 154, is a 13-episode reality series featuring African celebrities and hosted and produced by Layole Oyatogun.
Changing Narratives: A Real Showcase of African Fashion
Talking more about the new show, Layol explained what inspired him to do the show.
He explained that the essence of his show is to change the narrative that Nigerians are all bad.
“Now, I did this special show why every time I travel, especially when I go to America on Emirates, there is not a day that they don’t stop looking for me, the search is deep, it goes on constantly. Even when I go to some European countries, once they see my green passport, the time it takes me a while to leave.”
“Sometimes I tell them that I would miss connecting flights, and they don’t worry; we will put you on another flight. It shows that our reputation outside is so bad that they don’t think anything good would come out of Nigeria,” he said.
Acknowledging the success of some Nigerians for making a good name for themselves, Layole explained that his show is also about portraying Nigeria in a good light.
“But thank God for Wizkid, Tems, Burnaboy, Chimamanda Adichie and Okonjo Iweala, who are doing great things to change the narrative and perception of who Nigerians are. So I thought what could I do to change that perception as well and still make it interesting – Fashion,” he said

He explained that Nigerian celebrities are fashionable, stylish, articulate which is why he decided to do a show on stylish African stars and then show the world what he looks like, “we’re in it”.
Explaining the booming industry, Layol described the level of job opportunities the industry creates.
“For every outfit we wear and every event we attend, there’s a hair stylist, there’s a fashion stylist working with you, there’s a make-up artist, there’s a videographer, a photographer, so much, just imagine the kind of funds. and employment, being created you are”.
He also revealed that he was happy to be able to offer jobs.
“In addition to entertaining people, educating people and informing people, I am very happy that I have been able to pay people through this project.” he said,
Multi-hyphenate personality
Apart from being a broadcaster, Layole who is the daughter of renowned broadcaster Walter Oyatogun floated a PR firm during her hiatus where she represented celebrity clients like Iyabo Ojo, Priscy Ojo and Segun Olusemo (Sheggz) among many others.
On the show, he revealed that he got into public relations when he met Lisa Omorodion.
“Someone brought a beautiful young lady to my house around 10:00 p.m., she produced a film and wanted publicity.”
“When we started talking I was telling him, I think you should do this and that, I said I think this is the PR people you should use and he said no, I want you to do this, you’ve built the shot, I think you should do this , and that was Lisa Omardion, who wanted to start my PR business.

“This was his first film, his debut as a producer and actor, I managed it and that’s how I started PR”
Layole is also a seasoned red carpet host and has hosted several fashion weeks around the world including Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Pretoria and New York and the AMAA (Africa Movie Academy Awards).
She has also organized events such as MBGN (Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria), Africa Fashion Week and many more.
