The The highly anticipated title rematch between former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and reigning champion Alex Pereira will take place next April 8 in the main event of UFC 287.
Nigerian-born Adesanya lost his middleweight crown in the main event of UFC 281 to his old rival Pereira via fifth-round TKO.
After losing the title and appearing on the MMA Hour, The Last Styleblender expressed his desire to fight the Brazilian again to settle the cards, and also mentioned that the fighters would fight again after the rematch.
“I will see the fight again. I haven’t seen the fight again, but I don’t think I’ll dwell on it, because it’s not one of those things where I’m like, ‘Oh, damn!’ I will fight again. I’ll probably fight him two more times.’
Pereira also said that he still wants to knock Adesanya down again: “I will fight him, that’s not a problem. If there are two boys. Adesanya and some other guy, I’d pick Adesanya if I’m honest.
“I will not choose another boy to not give Adesanya a chance. If he really wants to, he’s next.”
And now, the official announcement of this pairing was made clear when UFC President Dana White announced that Adesanya and Pereira will be fighting each other in the main event of UFC 287.
