2022 had its fair share of scandals, intrigue and celebrity divorces.
On the surface, it looked like Nigerian celebrities were getting the best marriage ever, and suddenly fans were in for a surprise.
The news of this divorce sometimes leaves the fans disturbed, while in others it causes calmness.
Below are some Nigerian celebrity divorces we haven’t seen this year.
Anita and Paul Okoye
In perhaps the latest of the divorce cases, Anita and her husband, Paul Okoye, were on Wednesday divorced by the High Court in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, Maitama.
The couple had been married for eight years, in July the former filed for divorce from the latter, citing various problems.
Oritsefemi and Nabila Fash
In another drama-filled union, singer Oritsefemi and Nabila Fash crashed after five years.
Ms Fash confirmed that they have officially separated and are heading for a divorce during the live video show with popular OAP Daddy Freeze.
The singer has been accused of having relations with an unidentified woman in the marriage bed.

Dancers Kaffy and Joseph Ameh
Although they officially separated last year, news of the divorce of professional dancer and teacher Kafayat Ameh, popularly known as Kaffy Dance, and her husband, Joseph Ameh, leaked in early 2022.
In January, Kaffy revealed on a new episode of his podcast “JustKaffy” that he is single but not looking. The dancer revealed that her marriage was bitter and that taking the chance to break up her marriage was to see both sides grow on their separate paths.
Korra Obidi
In March, fans of singer and author Korra Obidi were shocked when her husband, Justin, announced that he was getting a divorce. He made the announcement days after his wife welcomed their second child in March.
In November, Korra took to social media to celebrate that she had finalized her divorce and won custody of her children.
Funke & JJC
In June, veteran rapper Abdulrasheed Bello popularly known as JJC Skillz confirmed the end of his marriage to actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele. In a statement, Skillz informed the public that the two are “pursuing separate lives.”
They were married for six years.

The actress, whose first marriage was to Lagos-based politician Kehinde Oloyede, is currently the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olajide Adedira popularly known as Jandor.
Gideon Okeke and Chidera
Nollywood actor Gideon Okeke, in October, confirmed the end of his four-year marriage to Chidera Uduezue. The actress broke the news on her Instagram story amid rumors of a breakup that had been swirling for over a year.
The couple had a traditional wedding in December 2018 in Abagana, Anambra State and have two sons.
Kalu Ikeagwu and Ijeoma
In May, Nollywood star Kalu Ikeagwu told an Ikeja High Court that his estranged wife, Ijeoma, allegedly left the matrimonial home and barred him from entering their two children.
Mr. Ikeagwu, in the suit marked LD/8939HD/2021, sought the dissolution of his six-year marriage to Ijeoma, a make-up artist. The British-Nigerian actor is also seeking full custody of his three-year-old son and ten-year-old stepdaughter.
Yewande Adekoya
Nollywood actress, Yewande Adekoya, announced in April that she had ended her eight-year marriage to her husband, Abiodun Ishola Thomas, because he was emotionally abusive to her.
The 39-year-old confirmed the break-up in a now-deleted Instagram post, while pleading with her fans to stop dragging her ex-husband.
According to Yewande, Abiodun has emotionally abused her for 14 years, abandoning her and involving her with different women.
Saint Obi and Lynda
In February, it was made public that veteran Nollywood actor Obinna Nwafor aka Saint Obi was divorcing his wife, Lynda Nwafor nee Amobi. The judge presiding over the case, Omotayo O. Majekodunmi, issued his arrest warrant.
In a suit filed at an Ogun State High Court with case number HCT/128/2019, the actor accused them of trying to kill his wife Lynda and her brothers, Michael and Chukwumobi Amobi.
Julius Agwu
The news of the end of the 14-year marriage of Julius Agwu and his wife Ibiere broke in March this year.
Mr. Agwu and his wife got married in Port Harcourt Rivers State on May 31, 2008 and have two children, Zahra and Zado.
The couple faced difficult times when Mr. Agwu underwent successful brain surgery in 2015. He recovered, but collapsed again in 2016 when he went to London for his show.
Mrs. Maclayton, formerly Mrs. Ibiere Agwu, has resumed her maiden name, traveled abroad with her children and shares pictures exclusively on Instagram.
The comedian, however, confirmed their divorce on December 11, in an interview with Daddy Freeze.
Jaruma and Ross Isabor
Like dancer, Kaffy, sex therapist and aphrodisiac seller Hauwa Saidu, popularly called Jaruma, quietly separated from her husband in 2021, but the divorce was announced this year.
In April, Mr Isabor warned Jaruma to stop using him to “sell his fake products” after the former couple got into a dirty fight on social media. The controversial couple had a loud wedding in 2018.
Basketmouth and Elsie
Basketmouth announced he was divorcing his wife, Elsie, in a statement Thursday.
Basketmouth, who has been married to Elsie for 12 years, described the separation as an inevitable situation.
He wrote; “After much consideration, my wife and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage.

As we move forward separately, we will continue to work together to give our beautiful children the care, love, guidance and support they need.’
The couple has three children.
Do2dtun and wife
Omotayo, the wife of on-air personality Kayode Ojuolape Oladotun, popularly known as Do2dtun, filed for separation from the Cool FM host, alleging forced abortion, domestic violence and emotional abuse.
His wife is the younger sister of famous singer D’banj.
The couple got married in 2013, and the marriage produced two children.
However, Omotayo commenced divorce proceedings before A. I Akobi Court 23, High Court of the Federal Territory, case number: GWD/PET/25/2021, in November 2021, alleging “endless reckless emotional abuse”. , forced abortion and vicious domestic violence” by Do2dtun, which has had a negative impact on her health and overall well-being.

Not the most controversial, but the marriage between Nigerian rapper and singer John Njenga-Njeng, Skales, Precious Hassanity, may be on the brink.
News of the wedding filtered through in confusion when the rapper posted a message saying she “didn’t know she was married to the devil.”
The singer buried his mother in November, and later shared snippets of an unreleased song that sounded like an album dedicated to his wife.
Chinese Rambo
It is not clear if they are headed for a divorce or not, but singer Shina Rambo and his wife, Korth, are said to have had an accident, with the latter accusing her husband of domestic violence.
She also accused him of not helping her during and after her pregnancy, even though she gave birth by caesarean section and contracted COVID-19.
